Mr. Rex Edward Moncus, 18, of 20 Adair Hollow Road, Adairsville died suddenly Sunday morning, May 2, 1999.
He was born in Floyd County on Feb. 4, 1941, son of Ed and Rita Burton Moncus. He was a senior at Adairsville High School, where he was FFA president for the past two years, winner of numerous FFA awards, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, high school starting catcher on the baseball team for four years, homecoming court, voted best dressed, member of Leadership Council, DARE role model, honor roll student, and member of Adairsville United Methodist Church. He was to attend Young Harris College, this fall to play baseball and major in forestry. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Burton and paternal grandfather, Brunner Moncus.
Survivors include his parents, Ed and Rita Moncus of Adairsville; a brother, Mack Moncus of Adairsville; maternal grandfather, Frank Burton, of LaFayette, AL; paternal grandmother, Opal Moncus of Wadley, AL; and aunts and uncles.
